The Empirical Studies of Conflict (ESOC) 2022 annual meeting, which convened in Berkeley, California October 14–15, 2022, brought together political scientists, economists, and other scholars to discuss new research on political violence. The first in-person meeting since the COVID-19 pandemic began, scholars from around the world shared research on policing in fragile contexts, disinformation, forced migration, climate-related conflict, domestic political violence, election violence, and unconventional tactics in the context of great power competition, including cyber warfare.
