Diego is an assistant professor of political science at the University of North Texas. He focuses on Latin American politics, with an emphasis on Colombia, Mexico and Chile, civil-military relations, policing, public security, and intelligence. His dissertation argues that variables of Centralization and Militarization act as opportunity structures for the development of Police Welfare Regimes and Police Oversight Regimes that determine the levels of Police Malfeasance in Latin America.
