Aaron Tester

2019-2020 Dissertation Fellow

Aaron Tester was an IGCC Dissertation Fellow from 2019-2020. He is a postdoctoral scholar with the Global Civil Society and Sustainable Development Lab at Stanford University. He completed his Ph.D. in the Department of Sociology at UC Irvine in 2021. His research focuses on democratic governance, the environment, development, organizations, culture, and management. Drawing on decentralization statutes in 130 countries from 1970 – 2015, his dissertation assesses the forces underpinning the rise of local governments and their variable democratization.
