Aaron Tester

Aaron is a Postdoctoral Scholar with the Global Civil Society and Sustainable Development Lab at Stanford University. He completed his Ph.D. in the Department of Sociology at U.C. Irvine in 2021. His research focuses on democratic governance, the environment, development, organizations, culture, and management. Drawing on decentralization statutes in 130 countries from 1970 – 2015, his dissertation assesses the forces underpinning the rise of local governments and their variable democratization.
