Benjamin Zulueta is a continuing lecturer in the Asian American Studies Department at UC Santa Barbara. Zulueta is currently completing a book, under contract to the University of Hawai’i Press, titled Forging the Model Minority: Chinese Immigrants, American Science, and the Cold War. In his dissertation, he examines the formation, migrations, and life experiences of the first numerically significant cohort of highly-educated Chinese immigrants to the United States, as well as the imagery that developed around their arrival and adjustment to U.S. society.
