Esteban Klor

Professor of Economics at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem

Esteban F. Klor is the Herczeg Family Professor of Economics at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a senior researcher at The Institute for National Security Studies (INSS).  His research focuses on terrorism, the deterrence effects of counterterrorism policies, and the political preferences of both the terrorists’ perceived constituency and the targeted population.

Professor Klor’s work has been published in the world’s leading journals of economics and political science, including The Quarterly Journal of Economics, The American Political Science Review, The Journal of Politics, The Journal of the European Economic Association, The Economic Journal, The Journal of Conflict Resolution, and The Journal of Public Economics, among many others.

His research has received wide coverage in global media outlets such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, BBC, The Guardian, and The New Republic.

His work has been supported by numerous agencies, including the Israeli Science Foundation, the Israeli Foundation Trustees, the European Commission (seventh Framework Program), the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and the Truman Institute for the Advancement of Peace, among others.
