Freja is a graduate student in Environmental Science Policy and Management at UC Berkeley. She is interested in questions around value/risk discourses; the politics of quantification-calculation, classification, and standards; and the political economy of global environmental governance. Her dissertation investigates the success and sustainability of one of the most active e-waste partnerships, the UN’s “Solving the E-waste Problem,” or StEP, Initiative, by critically investigating their attempts to coordinate global south e-waste hubs with precious and rare metal refining facilities in the global north.
