John Porten is a research manager at the Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice. He specializes in conflict, fragility, peacebuilding, resilience, and local political development. His dissertation considers the role of civic organizations in rural Nepal during the country’s ten-year Maoist insurgency.
