Kathleen Cunningham

2006-2007 Dissertation Fellow

Kathleen Gallagher Cunningham was an IGCC Dissertation Fellow from 2006-2007. She is a Professor in the Department of Government and Politics, University of Maryland. Her primary research interests include self-determination, secession, civil war, non-violent resistance, and nonstate actor governance. Her project examined the politics of self-determination and asked why some pairs of governments and minority populations can successfully renegotiate autonomy status while others are unable to do so.
