Lauren Young

Lauren Young is an assistant professor of political science at UC Davis

Lauren Young is a member of the Executive Committee for the IGCC Future of Democracy initiative, and an assistant professor (associate effective July 2023) of political science at UC Davis. Her research aims to understand how individuals make decisions when faced with the threat of violence, including state repression, election violence, anti-democratic coups, and organized crime. She also works on research methods related to studying political violence ethically. She is a member of the Evidence on Governance and Politics (EGAP) and Center for Effective Global Action (CEGA) networks, an editorial board member of the Institute for Replication (I4R), and a founding faculty member of the California Workshop on Empirical Political Science (CaliWEPS).
