Shengkuo Hu

2020-2021 Dissertation Fellow

Shengkuo Hu was an IGCC Dissertation Fellow from 2020-2021. In his dissertation, Hu broadly investigates the negative effects of “good” institutions on political violence. His dissertation shows that these well-intended institutions do not always have the intended effect of reducing political violence because the actors who design and implement them can tailor the changes or decisions to meet their interests, which are often not reducing political violence.
