IGCC Annual Report (2013)

At the UC Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation (IGCC), our mission is to use rigorous research, training, and engagement with decisionmakers to improve policies and practices in ways that help reduce conflict and improve global cooperation. This annual report offers an overview of our history, leadership, programs, and more.
DownloadIGCC advanced core programs in 2013. Its research output has more than doubled since receiving two major Department of Defense Minerva grants in the late 2000s, with the Development and Conflict Research (DACOR) and Study of Innovation and Technology in China (SITC) producing publications in top journals. Training programs also grew in 2013, including the ninth Public Policy and Nuclear Threats summer boot camp and the fourth China security course under the SITC project.
IGCC hosted 16 conferences and workshops on security, innovation, and climate, including the Transforming Security Research workshop in Washington, D.C., and the launch of the Northeast Asia Maritime Safety Project. A new partnership with leading climate research institutes kicked off with a symposium on water and climate change.
