Chinese Security
China under Xi Jinping is a security-maximizing state that is building its power and prestige on an increasingly capable and expansive economic and technological foundation. Xi has significantly elevated the importance of national security and technological innovation in the country’s overall agenda since taking charge in 2012. He has invested considerable time, effort, and political capital to establish an expansive techno-security state. Key areas of research in this space include Chinese security strategy, China’s relations with other major powers, and China’s efforts to modernize its defense innovation ecosystem.
