The UC Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation (IGCC) Public Policy and Nuclear Threats (PPNT) National Laboratory Internship Program is a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in nuclear security and policy research at a National Laboratory.
Hosted at the Center for National Security and International Studies at Los Alamos National Laboratory, this 8-week program offers participants hands-on experience and exposure to areas critical to the nuclear security mission. Interns will:
- Participate in weekly enrichment in nuclear nonproliferation concepts and R&D efforts to include hands-on training and technical tours will provide broad exposure to the LANL mission space.
- Conduct a focused research project related to nuclear security, nonproliferation science, and technology.
- Produce a research paper suitable for publication, summarizing findings and results.
Compensation: $1,000 weekly stipend + $2,500 housing and travel stipend
Application Deadline: Applications are due by March 6, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time.
Eligibility: The program is designed for alum of the Public Policy and Nuclear Threats (PPNT) Boot Camp. Participants must be currently enrolled in an accredited full-time graduate program in political science, public policy, science & engineering or relevant fields.
