PPNT National Laboratory Internship

The UC Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation (IGCC) Public Policy and Nuclear Threats (PPNT) National Laboratory Internship Program is a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in nuclear security and policy research at a National Laboratory.

Hosted at the Center for National Security and International Studies at Los Alamos National Laboratory, this 8-week program offers participants hands-on experience and exposure to areas critical to the nuclear security mission. Interns will:

  • Participate in weekly enrichment in nuclear nonproliferation concepts and R&D efforts to include hands-on training and technical tours will provide broad exposure to the LANL mission space.
  • Conduct a focused research project related to nuclear security, nonproliferation science and technology.
  • Produce a research paper suitable for publication, summarizing findings and results.

2025 PPNT National Laboratory Internship

Eligibility
The program is designed for alum of the Public Policy and Nuclear Threats (PPNT) Boot Camp. Participants must be currently enrolled in an accredited full-time graduate program in political science, public policy, science & engineering or relevant fields.

-Transcript (unofficial is acceptable)
-A Cover Letter describing (i) research interests, (ii) motivation for conducting an internship at a National Laboratory, (iii) a brief description of a potential research project, and (vi) future career goals (1000 words max).

Compensation
$1,000 weekly stipend + $2,500 housing and travel stipend
