Political Violence and Its Alternatives

What drives violent conflict between and within countries? What strategies work to reduce violence? How are patterns of peace and conflict changing globally? This IGCC research theme is concerned with the causes and consequences of violence and protest globally. Much of our analysis comes from the IGCC-supported blog Political Violence At A Glance, which offers simple, straight-forward expert analysis on a range of topics—from interstate wars, civil wars, and coups, to elections, human rights, and terrorism—grounded in rigorous academic research, and targeted at mainstream audiences.
